OSB (Oriented Strand Board)

Oriented Strand Board (OSB) is a versatile and cost-effective engineered wood panel widely used in construction and structural applications. It is composed of large wood strands or flakes that are strategically layered and bonded together using strong adhesives and waterproof resins. These strands are arranged in specific orientations—typically lengthwise in the outer layers and crosswise in the inner layers—to enhance strength, rigidity, and load-bearing capacity.

The manufacturing process involves compressing the layered strands under high heat and pressure, resulting in a dense, durable board with excellent structural performance. OSB panels are known for their consistent quality, minimal voids, and efficient use of raw materials, making them an environmentally responsible choice.

OSB is commonly used in building projects for roof decking, wall sheathing, and subflooring due to its strength and affordability. It is also suitable for packaging, hoarding, and temporary structures. While it has a more textured and industrial appearance compared to plywood, OSB can also be used in modern interior designs where a raw, natural aesthetic is desired.

With its engineered strength, cost efficiency, and wide range of applications, OSB remains a staple material in both residential and commercial construction projects.
